Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Curriculum Requirement Bill

House File 580

This bill requires school districts that provide programs to prevent and reduce the risks of sexually transmitted infections and diseases to also provide curriculum on and instruction in abstinence-only-until-marriage. This legislation would require schools to provide two tracks of sexuality education: comprehensives sexuality education and abstinence-only-until-marriage education, which would have significant fiscal impact on already taxed school districts. During the 2003 legislative session, this bill was passed out of committee and put on the general register, where it remained at the end of the 2003 session.
