2007 Legislative Session

2007 Legislative Summary

Despite overwhelming evidence of its efficacy, incontrovertible support from Minnesota parents, and strong bi-partisan support, the changes proposed to improve the state's sexual health education statute were stripped from the final E-12 Education bill sent to the Governor at the close of the session.

The new, updated language emerged intact from the Education Conference Committee, and was still in the bill the Senate planned to send to the House on the final day of session. But during a last minute, closed door meeting, that language was taken out.

There are many Senators and Representatives to thank for their efforts this session (see the list of bill authors). But they also need to know how disappointed we all are that young people's well-being will continue to be jeopardized because of lack of credible information about sexual health.

More updates coming soon.
